Overview

The reauthorized Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), signed on December 3, 2004, became PL 108-446. In accordance with 20 U.S.C. 1416(b)(1), not later than one year after the date of enactment of the reauthorized IDEA, each state is required to have in place a performance plan evaluating the state's implementation of Part B and describing how the state will improve such implementation. This plan is called the Part B State Performance Plan (SPP) and is required to be posted on the state's web site. On February 1, 2010, the New Jersey Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs, submitted an updated SPP to the USDOE.  This submission contains all federally required revisions to the SPP Indicators and Measurements. The SPP originally submitted on December 2, 2005, contains all subsequent federally required updates and clarifications through February 2, 2009. In accordance with 20 U.S.C. 1416(2)(C)(ii) each state shall report annually to the   Secretary of Education on its performance according to its SPP targets. This report is called the Part B Annual Performance Report (APR).
